RX Product Family

E-mail Print

RPA is proud to introduce a line of products based on the Renesas RX MCU family.  The first in the series of RX products is our RX62Ncore module.  RPA provides all the tools you need to quickly get up and running on your next project.  If you should require additional engineering support then contact us with your requirements.  We can tailor a support package ranging from E-Mail technical advice all the way to a turn-key solution.

For other RX62N products, visit our Data Acquisition product section.

RX62Ncore Module

The RX62Ncore module is designed around the Renesas high performance and highly integrated RX62N MCU.  The RX62Ncore is ideally suited for product prototyping and integration into OEM devices where a flexible USB, Ethernet and/or PC software interface is required.  The RX62Ncore can easily be integrated to new designs to provide a turnkey integration solution.  RPA saves you time and development costs by providing a well tested software interface and robust hardware drivers.  And did we mention that our
RX62Ncore is tiny at 47mm x 57mm?

The RX62Ncore module has the tools you need to jump start your embedded project.  Features include Ethernet, USB2.0, expansion connectors and a broad range of peripherals including timers, real time clock, A-D and D-A converters, DMA controller and SDRAM interface.   These are all routed to two 50-pin user-friendly I/O connectors which provide end users off-card access to the on-chip peripherals.   In addition, all the supporting circuitry is included to free the designer to focus on other tasks at hand.

RX Core Overview

The RX62N Group is built around the RX Core and is equipped with Ethernet, dual channel USB 2.0 Full-Speed (Host, Function and OTG operation) and optional CAN support to meet your specific application requirements.  The RX MCU family is designed to accommodate many types of applications with a variety of communication interfaces.

The 32-bit RX central processing unit employs an Enhanced Harvard architecture with separate instruction and operand buses leading to both Flash and SRAM.  This permits simultaneous instruction fetch and memory writes to boostperformance making it ideal for bandwidth intensive applications such as digital signal processing. Instructions are fed into the CPU from 100MHz Flash and are processed by a 5-stage execution pipeline which permits single clock operations.  The CPU also integrates a single precision 32-bit floating point unit that performs complex non-linear math in fewer clock cycles, reducing code and data size and simplifying software development.  The multiply accumulate (MAC) unit enables efficient digital signal processing and can eliminate the need for a separate DSP or ASIC device.  The RX register set consists of nine control registers, sixteen 32-bit general purpose registers, and a 48-bit accumulator register.  A memory protection unit is available to safeguard errant or otherwise unintentional register accesses.  An interrupt control unit enables ultra fast 5-cycle interrupt latency.  RX also supports on-chip debugging and is fully supported by both in-house and 3rd party development tools.

RX62Ncore Integrated

Below is an example showing how the RX62Ncore could be integrated with an RPA motor controller board.  The motor controller board is 4.5” x 3.75” in dimension.  By using the configuration with the USB and Ethernet connector on the bottom, a low profile is maintained.
