RPA has been designing Ethernet based products using the Analog Devices Blackfin DSP. DSPs are becoming integrated and are finding use in designs that were once dominated by microcontrollers. Ethernet has become the choice for products and systems that needs to be network and/or Internet capable. With the
E100-FIO, the user starts with a powerful processing engine. Using the
E100-FIO’s many different types of daughterboard I/O interfaces, the user can then select from a wider range of I/O peripherals to better match their design requirements.
The daughterboard I/O interfaces include:
- PPI
- Configurable FPGA pins
- SPI
- I2C
- SPORT
- UART
With the onboard Altera Cyclone EP3C10, the user has ample resources for data processing algorithms and to configure the I/O pins for interfacing to custom hardware on the daughterboard. The onboard SDRAM provides a buffer for such things as data logging, double buffering data and synchronizing hardware systems to name a few. UcLinux, verified to run on the BF537 DSP, provides the user with instant network/Internet capable hardware along with all the other benefits of running an embedded OS.
